Anticonformista per vocazione, instancabile e intraprendente nella carriera lavorativa, sfrontata e inafferrabile in ambito politico. L’affascinante Daniela Garnero in Santanché, imprenditrice di successo, rappresenta un punto di riferimento inequivocabile per gli amanti del lusso come cultura, modo di essere e di esprimersi, sensibilità nell’accostarsi all’impegno quotidiano nel lavoro e nella società.

Nata a Cuneo il 7 aprile 1961, dopo la Laurea in Scienze politiche a Torino e il Master alla “Bocconi”, a 21 anni sposa Paolo Santanché, noto chirurgo plastico dal quale ha ereditato il cognome dopo la separazione. Negli anni novanta fonda l’agenzia “Dani comunicazione” e inizia a collaborare con l’amico Ignazio La Russa, prima di approdare direttamente alla Camera dei Deputati nel 2001 con Alleanza Nazionale. Oggi Daniela Santanché - oltre ad essere proprietaria insieme con l’amico d’infanzia Flavio Briatore, dei due locali notturni italiani più conosciuti nel mondo, il “Billionaire” di Porto Cervo e il “Twiga” di Forte dei Marmi - ha fondato un partito politico tutto suo, il “Movimento per l’Italia” e da circa un anno è Presidente di “Visibilia”, concessionaria di pubblicità per il quotidiano “Libero” e per altri giornali nazionali. Nonostante i mille impegni, siamo riusciti ad incontrarla nel suo elegante ufficio milanese di Viale Majno, di fianco alla sede del giornale di Vittorio Feltri, a pochi passi da Porta Venezia, all’indomani delle elezioni amministrative ed europee del 6 e 7 Giugno. E naturalmente non potevamo non chiederle un giudizio sulla situazione politica italiana e sulle vicende di gossip che hanno avuto come protagonista il nostro Presidente del Consiglio.

Come giudica la vittoria di Berlusconi e del Popolo della Libertà alle recenti elezioni? Non sente un po’ di nostalgia dei suoi ex colleghi di Alleanza Nazionale?

Assolutamente no! Silvio Berlusconi è l’uomo politico che più stimo in assoluto, è un vero leader, un trascinatore, un uomo molto capace e preparato. Le recenti vittorie elettorali confermano quanto dico e daranno nuovo slancio al suo governo. Dietro di lui purtroppo c’è davvero poco, anzi direi che non esiste un suo successore, perché il nostro Presidente del Consiglio non può avere degni eredi a breve termine, quindi speriamo che rimanga in sella ancora a lungo. Per quanto mi riguarda dopo il divorzio da “Alleanza Nazionale” di Fini e da “La Destra” di Storace, vado avanti con il mio “Movimento per L’Italia”, libera da tutto e da tutti, perché voglio dire sempre quello che penso senza compromessi e portare avanti le mie battaglie in mezzo alla gente.

Per esempio la battaglia contro l’immigrazione clandestina: la soddisfa l’operato del governo riguardo a questo problema?

Io sono stata la prima in Italia a parlare di “tolleranza zero” nei confronti degli immigrati. Chi non rispetta le leggi deve tornare da dove è venuto, perché nella nostra società, oltre ai diritti, esistono anche dei doveri fondamentali da rispettare. L’ex Ministro comunista Paolo Ferrero era orgoglioso di fare il “ministro dei clandestini”. Oggi grazie anche alle mie battaglie, vedo con piacere che l’introduzione del reato di clandestinità e la politica dei respingimenti attuata dal governo Berlusconi e dal Ministro Maroni, va avanti con successo e ha già dato i primi frutti.

Lei si batte da anni perché vengano rispettati i diritti delle donne, in particolar modo di quelle musulmane? Esiste, oggi, la parità di diritti tra uomo e donna?

In generale, credo sia inconcepibile che nel 2009 esistano ancora donne sottomesse al proprio marito in nome della religione, come accade per le donne islamiche, costrette a vivere segregate e coperte da veli o burqa. Le donne italiane ovviamente sono molto più emancipate, ma non esiste ancora l’agognata parità. Oggi purtroppo ancora no, ma la strada intrapresa è quella giusta, anche se per ottenere un risultato così significativo, occorre sempre tempo e anche molta pazienza. Oggi è ancora troppo comodo essere “la moglie di” e vivere all’ombra del marito, con tutte le conseguenze del caso. La mia amica Carla Bruni, per esempio, ha scelto di essere la moglie del premier francese Sarkozy e lo fa molto bene, ma si è dovuta adattare al ruolo istituzionale. Io credo di non essere adatta a quel tipo di ruolo, preferisco essere protagonista della mia vita.

E la storia di Veronica Lario? Le sue recenti rivelazioni a “Libero”, come sempre fuori dal coro, hanno un po’ smorzato gli attacchi incrociati dei giornali di tutto il mondo contro il nostro Presidente del Consiglio.

Io conduco sempre battaglie di verità e di libertà in modo disinteressato. Durante l’ultima campagna elettorale Berlusconi è stato attaccato da più parti con le vicende della sua presunta amante minorenne Noemi e della separazione chiesta dalla moglie. Io vado spesso all’estero per lavoro e quando vedo che la mia patria viene derisa e calpestata come è successo in quella circostanza, è una vera sofferenza. Per questo ho voluto dire quello che sapevo sull’argomento, per mettere fine a quelle indecenze che si dicevano sulla figura del nostro Presidente. Veronica Lario da parecchi anni è legata sentimentalmente ad Alberto Orlandi, capo sicurezza della loro villa di Macherio. La vera vittima della situazione è Silvio Berlusconi, che ha fatto di tutto per non sfasciare la sua famiglia. L’Italia è l’unico paese al mondo con una First Lady che non si vede mai in pubblico e la colpa non è certo del nostro premier. Fare la moglie del Presidente del Consiglio, è un impegno che richiede enormi sacrifici. 

E lei che nel 2008 è stata la prima donna italiana in assoluto ad essere candidata alla carica di Presidente del Consiglio, a che ruolo politico e istituzionale aspira? É vero che a 17 anni, intervistata insieme con altre ragazze in un programma televisivo, disse di voler fare il Ministro del Tesoro?

É vero, la mia passione per gli affari e per l’imprenditoria in generale è sempre stata molto forte. Fino all’età di trentacinque anni ho gestito la clinica privata del mio ex marito Paolo. Lui operava e io mi occupavo delle pubbliche relazioni e della contabilità. Ho sempre lavorato, mi piace farlo, mi sento realizzata. E soprattutto non mi piace la notorietà travestita da successo e quindi non mi piacerebbe ottenere una “poltrona” da Ministro se per farlo dovessi rinunciare alle mie idee e alle mie convinzioni. Il vero successo, quello duraturo, si costruisce giorno dopo giorno, soltanto con i sacrifici e con il lavoro, stando in mezzo alla gente, inseguendo degli ideali.

Anche il Lusso è un’ideale da coltivare, un modo di essere che non coincide esclusivamente con la ricchezza. Cosa rappresenta per Daniela Santanché il Lusso?

Credo che ognuno di noi abbia la sua asticella del lusso da oltrepassare. Per quanto mi riguarda, la qualità della vita è già di per sé un lusso, come lo sono il cibo genuino, il buon vino e gli altri piaceri della tavola. Io mi reputo molto fortunata perché posso permettermi tutto quello che voglio, dai gioielli ai capi d’abbigliamento. Possiedo una collezione di borse di Hermés, modello “Kelly”, credo unica al mondo. Utilizzo soltanto quel modello, un prodotto di lusso e anche molto costoso, ma senza quel tipo di accessorio non mi sento me stessa. Oltre alle cose materiali, per me il lusso è avere del tempo libero, visto che non ne ho quasi mai. Di recente, dopo dieci anni, sono riuscita ad andare in vacanza con mio figlio alle Maldive, altrimenti la vacanza coincide spesso con il lavoro a Forte dei Marmi o a Porto Cervo. In quei luoghi per me è fondamentale avere una casa che possieda tutti i comfort possibili, in modo da potermi sentire sempre a mio agio anche quando sono in viaggio per lavoro. Io adoro le ville grandi e accoglienti ed anche questo è un lusso che non posso evitare.

Ecco, allora perché non acquistare una residenza storica sulle rive del Lago Maggiore come hanno fatto di recente molti personaggi famosi?

Potrebbe essere una buona idea! Conosco molto bene Arona, Stresa e le Isole Borromee e spesso vengo invitata a trascorrere il week-end sul Lago Maggiore da alcuni amici che possiedono una villa da quelle parti. É meraviglioso che a pochi passi dalla caotica Milano esista un luogo così incantevole, un vero spettacolo naturale. Magari tra qualche tempo mi concederò anch’io il lusso di acquistare una casa sul Lago Maggiore.

The fascinating Daniela Garner married name now: Santanché, the entrepreneur success, is an unambiguous reference point for lovers of luxury as a culture, way of being and expression, in the sensitive approach to everyday work and in society.

Born in Cuneo April 7 1961; after graduating in Political Science at Turin and taking her Masters at the Milan University "Bocconi"; at just 21 years old she marries Paolo Santanché, a well-known plastic surgeon from whom she inherited the family name even after the separation. 

In the nineties she founded the agency "Dani Communication" and started working with her friend Ignazio La Russa, before leading directly to the Chamber of Deputies in 2001 with the National Alliance party.  Daniela Santanché today - in addition to being co-owner together with her childhood friend Flavio Briatore, of the two most renown Italian clubs in the world, the "Billionaire" at Porto Cervo and the "Twiga" of Forte dei Marmi - has established a political party of her own, the 'Movement for Italy' and for about a year has been president of 'Visibilia', dealership and advertising to 'libero' (and other national) newspapers.

Despite her extreme commitments, we were able to meet her at her stylish office in Milan's, Viale Majno, next to the headquarters of Vittorio Feltri's newspaper, a few steps from Porta Venezia, just following the local and European elections that took place on the 6^th and 7^th of June.

Naturally we could not avoid asking her opinion of the Italian political situation and the events concerning all the gossip that our President of the Council, Mr. Silvio Berlusconi has roused of late.

 
What do you think of Berlusconi's victory and the People of Freedom party's recent elections? Don't you feel nostalgic for your former members of the National Alliance?

Absolutely not! Silvio Berlusconi is the most esteemed politician of all Time, he is a true leader, a very capable and prepared man. The recent electoral victories confirm what I say and will give new input to his government.  Behind him there is unfortunately very little, indeed, he has no successor, because our President of the Council cannot have worthy heirs in the short term, so we hope to remain in the saddle for a long time.  Regarding me after my divorce from 'Fini's' National Alliance ' and from Storace's 'Right', I'm going ahead with my 'Movement for Italy' free from everything and everyone, because I want to say what I think, without compromising and to continue my battles in the midst of people.

For example, the battle against illegal immigration: satisfies the work of the government regarding this issue?  I have been the first in Italy to talk about zero immigration tolerance.  Who does not respect the law should be returned to where he came, because in our society, in addition to rights,
there are also duties to be fulfilled.  Former communist Minister Paolo Ferrero was proud to be the "Illegal immigrants Minister".  Today, thanks to my battles, I am pleased that the introduction of the crime of illegal immigration and the rejection policies of Berlusconi's government and of the Minister Maroni, is proceeding successfully and has already borne fruit.

She has been fighting for some years to ensure that womens rights are respected, especially Muslim women.  Do you think that there are equal rights today between men and women?
In general, I think it is inconceivable that in 2009 there are still women submissive to their husbands in the name of religion, as often happens to Muslim women, forced to live segregated and covered by the veil or burqa. 

Italian women are obviously far more emancipated, but there still is not the longed for equality.  Today, unfortunately, still not, but the road taken is the right one, even if to get a result that is significant, time and a lot of patience is necessary.  Today it is still too comfortable to be "the wife of" and live in the shadow of one's husband, with all the consequences of each case.  My friend Carla Bruni, for example, has chosen to be the wife of French Prime Minister Sarkozy and she does it very well, but has had to adapt to the institutional role.  I don't believe that I'm suitable for that type of role, I prefer being the main protagonist of my life.

And what's the story with Veronica Lario?  Her recent revelations in the "Libero newspaper", as always out of the choir, have a bit dampened the cross-attacks of the newspapers around the world against our President of the Council.
I always lead battles for truth and freedom in a disinterested manner.  During the last election campaign Berlusconi had been attacked from many sides with the story of his alleged under aged lover Noemi and of the separation sought from his wife. I often go abroad for work and when I see that my homeland is mocked and trampled upon as in that particular circumstance, it's a real pain.  This is why I said what I knew on the argument, to put an end to those who said indecent things regarding the image of our President.  Veronica Lario for several years has been romantically linked to Alberto Orlandi, head of security at their villa in Macherio.  The real victim of the situation is Silvio Berlusconi, who has done everything possible to not let it ruin his family.
Italy is the only country in the world where the First Lady is never seen in public, and the fault is certainly not of our premier.  To be the wife of the President of the Council is a commitment that requires enormous sacrifices.

It was you though that in 2008 was the first Italian woman to ever be a candidate for the office of President of the Council.  To which political and institutional roles do you aspire? It is true that at just 17 years old, interviewed along with other young girls in a television programme, you said you wanted to become Minister of the Treasury?
It's true, my passion for business and entrepreneurship in general has always been very strong. Up to thirty years I managed the private clinic of my ex-husband Paul.  He operated whilst I worked in public relations and in accountancy.  I have always worked, I like to, it makes me feel realised.  Above all I do not like the disguised fame that success brings, therefore I would not like to obtain a Minister's "chair", if to do so I had to give up my ideas and my convictions.  Real success, that lasts, is built day after day, only with sacrifices and hard work, being in the midst of people and pursuing ideals.

Even luxury is an idea to cultivate, a way of life that does not necessarily coincide only with the wealthy.  What does luxury mean for Daniela Santanché?
I believe that each of us has a barrier of luxury to pass.  For me, the quality of life is already in itself a luxury, as are genuine food, good wine and other pleasures of the table.  I believe myself very fortunate because I can afford everything I want, from jewelry to clothing pieces.  I have a collection of Hermés bags, of the "Kelly" model, that I think are unique in the world.  I only use that model, a luxury product which is also very expensive, but without that kind of accessory I do not feel myself.  In addition to material things, for me is to have the luxury of free time, since I hardly ever have any.  Recently, after ten years, I managed to go on holiday with my son to the Maldives, or the holiday often needs to coincide with work either in Forte dei Marmi, or in Porto Cervo.  In both these places for me it's essential to have a house that has all the comforts possible, so I can always feel at ease even when I'm travelling for work.  I love the big welcoming villas and this is another luxury that I cannot avoid.
So, then why not buy an historic residence on the banks of Lake Maggiore as many other celebrities have done recently?
What a good idea! I know Arona, Stresa and the Borromean Islands very well and am often invited to spend the weekend on Lake Maggiore with friends who own a house on the shores.  It is so wonderful that just a short distance from chaotic Milan there is such a charming place, of natural beauty.  Perhaps in the near future I'll grant myself the luxury of buying a house too on Lake Maggiore.

Она родилась 7 апреля 1961 в Кунео (Cuneo), получила диплом по политологии в Турине и прошла магистерский курс в «Боккони». В 21 год вышла замуж за Паоло Сантаке (Paolo Santanche'), известного пластического хирурга, и взяла себе его фамилию после развода. В 90-х годах основала агентство “Dani comunicazione”, а с 2001 является членом Палаты депутатов от партии «Национальное единство». Она вместе с Флавио Бриаторе (Flavio Briatore) владеет двумя самими известными в мире итальянскими ночными клубами. Она также основала свою политическую партию  “Movimento per l’Italia” и уже около года является президентом фирмы “Visibilia”, рекламного агента нескольких итальянских газет. Мы встретились с ней после административных и европейских выборов, прошедших 6 и 7 июня. Мы спросили ее, что она думает о сложившейся политической ситуации и слухах о победе Берлускони (Berlusconi). 

Как Вы оцениваете победу Берлускони и партии «Народ свободы»  на этих выборах? Вы не скучаете по своим бывшим коллегам из «Национального единства»?

Берлускони очень сильный политик, и вряд ли в ближайшее время у него появятся достойные преемники, поэтому я надеюсь, что он еще долго будет занимать свой пост. Я ушла из партий, в которых состояла раньше, и теперь провожу свою линию в моей собственной партии. 

Возьмем борьбу с нелегальной иммиграцией: Вы довольны работой правительства в этом направлении?

Я первая заговорила о том, что нарушители закона должны вернуться туда, откуда приехали, раз они не уважают наше общество и наши законы. Сейчас я с радостью вижу, что плодами моих усилий стало то, что политика правительства Берлускони и министра Марони (Maroni), направленная на депортацию нелегальных иммигрантов из стран, дает первые результаты.

Вы много лет боретесь за права женщин, особенно мусульманок? Сейчас существует равенство полов?

В целом по-прежнему есть женщины, особенно мусульманки, которые во всем подчиняются мужу и вынуждены скрывать свое лицо и тело. Итальянки более эмансипированы, но все же о равенстве полов говорить пока рано, хотя мы на правильном пути. Многие предпочитают по-прежнему жить в тени мужа. Моя подруга Карла Бруни (Carla Bruni) стала женой премьер-министра Франции Саркози (Sarkozy) и очень хорошо справляется со своей ролью второго плана. Но такой путь не для меня.

А история Вероники Ларио (Veronica Lario)? Ее последние интервью газете “Libero”, слегка постудили пыл прессы, ополчившейся против Берлускони.

В этот раз Берлускони атаковали все из-за его предполагаемого романа с несовершеннолетней девушкой и развода с женой. Мне было больно видеть это. Поэтому я рассказала что знала, чтобы прекратить это безобразие. У Вероники Ларио уже несколько лет длится роман с Альберто Орланди (Alberto Orlandi), начальником охраны их виллы, поэтому жертва в этой ситуации – сам Берлускони. Нашу первую леди никогда не видно, но виноват в этом не премьер. Это очень тяжело – быть женой Президента совета.

В 2008 Вы стали первой женщиной, выдвинувшей свою кандидатуру на пост Президента совета. Какую роль на политической арене вы хотели бы получить? Это правда, что в интервью одной передаче Вы сказал, что хотите быть Министром казначейства?

Это правда, мне всегда нравилось предпринимательство. До 25 лет я вела дела частной клиники моего мужа.  Мне нравится настоящий успех, и я бы не отказалась от своих идей ради кресла министра. Настоящего успеха нужно добиваться день за днем своим трудом. 

Роскошь – это тоже идеал, и он связан не только с богатством. Что для Вас является роскошью?

У каждого из нас свое понятие о роскоши, я думаю. Для меня это качество жизни, еда. Я считаю, мне повезло, потому что я могу позволить себе все. У меня есть эксклюзивная сумка от «Hermes», единственная в мире. Это роскошная, очень дорогая сумка. Кроме того роскошь для меня – это свободное время.  Я редко выбираюсь на каникулы. Мне нравится останавливаться в больших роскошных виллах, я не могу себе в этом отказать.

Так почему бы ни купить дом на озере Маджоре (Lago Maggiore), как делают многие знаменитости?

Хорошая идея! Я часто езжу туда к друзьям и хорошо знаю эту область. Это чудесно, что рядом с хаотичным Миланом есть такое прекрасное место.  Может быть, и я в скором времени позволю себе эту роскошь и куплю там дом.
